10 Crafts You Can Make with Household Objects

You don’t need fancy tools or expensive supplies to be crafty. At Our Crafty Tribe, we believe creativity starts at home — with what you already have! Here are 10 simple, fun, and satisfying craft projects you can try today using common household items.

1. Tin Can Pencil Holders

Don’t throw away those empty cans! Clean them, remove labels, and wrap them in fabric, paper, or washi tape for a fun desk organizer.

2. Toilet Paper Roll Animals

With a few markers, googly eyes, and a little imagination, those cardboard tubes can become owls, elephants, or even unicorns!

3. Magazine Collage Art

Cut out interesting pictures or words from old magazines and create beautiful collage posters, cards, or mood boards.

4. Sock Puppets

Lost a sock? Turn it into a silly puppet with buttons, yarn, and fabric scraps. Great for storytelling fun with kids.

5. Jar Lid Magnets

Old jar lids + favorite photos or paper + a magnet on the back = personalized fridge magnets in minutes.

6. Cereal Box Notebooks

Cut cereal boxes into covers for DIY notebooks. Add scrap paper inside and bind with string or staples.

7. Plastic Spoon Flowers

Melted plastic spoons (adult supervision, please!) can be painted and glued into flower shapes — lovely for wall decor.

8. Egg Carton Critters

Each section of an egg carton becomes the body of a ladybug, caterpillar, or bee. Just paint, cut, and glue.

9. Button Art Canvas

Sort your old buttons by color and glue them onto a canvas or cardboard in the shape of a heart, tree, or initial.

10. Paper Towel Roll Bracelets

Cut into strips, cover with fabric or paper, and decorate — a fun way to make your own wearable art.
